About Julia
Julia has been providing voice, music, acting, and performing instruction to the Salt Lake City, UT area since 2010. During the 10 years that followed, our studio developed an original singing and music program for small children, a Voice and Acting Workshop, and taught private voice and piano lessons for teens and adults. Following the disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, our focus has shifted to developing singers in our private voice studio.
We help our students discover, or rediscover, their singing voices and gain self confidence that extends past the performing stage and into their everyday lives. We do this through a variety of strategies to provide a personalized experience for each student at every lesson: the science of singing, sensation-based singing, and imagery.
Our adult students have landed lead roles in professional and community theaters local to the Salt Lake Valley, with teen students earning lead roles in High School and Middle School productions and receiving positions in their school's top choirs. Some of our High School students have also received Concerto Night honors and earned Sterling Scholar recognitions in vocal performance.
PERFORMANCE BACKGROUND
Over the past 25 years, Julia’s diverse career has included opera, oratorio, musical theater, classical art song, and jazz. She has performed with professional opera companies in Utah and California. She has performed locally with Lyrical Opera Theater, singing the role of Musetta (La Boheme). She has sung abroad in Salzburg, Austria and made her European debut in 2010 as Annina (La Traviata) with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy. With the University of Utah Lyric Opera, Mrs. Wentz has performed the roles of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Drusilla (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Soeur Antoine (Dialogues des Carmélites), and La Suora Zelatrice (Suor Angelica). Mrs. Wentz’ has also appeared as a concert soloist in Bach’s Magnificat with the Madeleine Choir at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Beethoven’s Fantasia in C Minor with the Utah Philharmonia, Handel’s Messiah with Utah Lyric Opera and several community organizations, and was a featured soloist in the 2010 Art Meets Fashion Human Rights Campaign benefit event in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Wentz has been a two-time finalist in the NATS competition for the Northern Utah Chapter.
